Collecting many small notifications into one scheduled summary ('20 people liked your post', a 6 p.m. daily digest) instead of sending each.

the two-minute refresher

Batching merges a burst ('You made 50 trades today'); a digest is a scheduled summary.
Digests follow user preferences: daily, weekly or monthly, at a preferred time in the user's time zone.
Fewer, better notifications mean less fatigue, fewer opt-outs and lower SMS/email cost.
Never batch what is urgent: security alerts and OTPs go out immediately.
